Eye Nuts

Forged, hot-dip galvanized eye nuts that thread onto an anchor rod or bolt and turn its threaded end into a load-bearing eye the connection point where guy and stay hardware attaches to the anchor. EN series, rated from 12,400 to 50,000 lbs, matched to your rod and bolt sizes.

Description

The Nut That Turns a Threaded Rod Into a Pulling Point

A guy anchor ends in a threaded rod, a PISA rod or an anchor rod set in the ground or fixed to a structure, with a threaded end projecting. But a thread is not something a guy wire can pull on. Something has to turn that thread into a load-bearing eye the guy hardware can attach to.

That something is the eye nut: a forged nut with an eye formed as part of it. Thread it onto the anchor rod (or a bolt), and the buried or fixed anchor now presents a strong loop at the point where the guy grip or guy clamp connects and the stay’s load transfers into the anchor.

It’s the small forged component that completes the anchor. This page covers eye nuts for guy and anchor work: the EN range and ratings, matching them to your rod, and how they sit in the anchor assembly.

Eye Nut Selection Table

No. Rating (lbs) Thread Application
EN01 12,400 .646-11 UNS-2B 5/8″ bolt
EN02 18,350 .771-10 UNS-2B 3/4″ bolt
EN03 36,000 1.021-8 UNS-2B 3/4″ PISA rod / 1″ PISA rod / 1″ bolt
EN04 50,000 1.021-8 UNS-2B 3/4″ PISA rod / 1″ PISA rod
EN05 16,000 .695-11 UNS-2B 5/8″ PISA rod
EN06 36,000 1.021-8 UNS-2B 3/4″ PISA rod / 1″ PISA rod / 1″ bolt
EN07 50,000 1.021-8 UNS-2B 3/4″ PISA rod / 1″ PISA rod / 1″ bolt

Reading the table: select by the rod or bolt the eye nut threads onto (the Application column) and the rating your anchor and guy require. The thread must match the rod/bolt exactly; the rating must meet or exceed the anchor assembly’s load. Note that several EN types share a thread (1.021-8 UNS-2B) at different ratings and FIG patterns thread compatibility and rating are two separate checks. (Sizes outside the range are made to order; confirm your rod thread with the RFQ.)

Why Buyers Choose DAPENG Eye Nuts

  • Forged eye, continuous grain: The eye is forged as one with the nut body load through formed metal, no cut or weld at the loop that carries the guy. Same forged principle as our forged eye bolts.
  • Thread matched to your rod exactly: The nut threads onto your anchor rod or bolt the EN range covers the common UNS threads for 5/8″, 3/4″, and 1″ rods and bolts. A thread mismatch is an anchor that can’t be completed, so we confirm it against your rod at RFQ.
  • Rated for the anchor, tested: Ratings from 12,400 to 50,000 lbs., batch-verified, so the eye nut is never the weak point between a strong anchor and a strong guy.
  • Hot-dip galvanized for buried and exposed service: Galvanized to ISO 1461 / ASTM A153 class coatings, at a component that lives at grade or below where corrosion is harshest.
  • Supplied with the anchor assembly: Eye nuts ship with the anchor rods, guy grips, guy clamps and guy wire of the same anchor matched and kitted.

Use-Case Deep Dive

What is an eye nut used for?

Completing a threaded anchor with a load-bearing eye. The main job: threaded onto a guy anchor rod (PISA rod) at or below grade, it presents the eye where the guy assembly attaches turning the anchor’s threaded end into the pulling point that takes the stay’s load. It’s also used on bolts where a threaded end needs to become an eye for a connection. In both, the eye nut is the interface between a thread and a load-bearing loop. Pair it with the anchor rod below and the guy grip or guy clamp above, and the guy anchor is complete from ground to stay.

How do I match an eye nut to my anchor rod?

Two checks. Thread the eye nut’s thread must match the rod’s (or bolt’s) thread exactly; a 3/4″ PISA rod needs the eye nut cut for it. Rating the eye nut’s rating must meet or exceed the load the anchor carries, which is set by the guy tension and your standard’s factor. The Application column in the table maps each EN type to the rods and bolts it fits; give us your rod size and thread and the guy load, and we confirm the EN type on both counts. The eye nut should never be the weak link between a rated rod and a rated guy matching both dimensions is what prevents that.

Eye nut or eye bolt what’s the difference?

They look related but connect oppositely. An eye nut is a nut it has an internal thread and screws onto a rod or bolt to present an eye (used to complete an anchor rod). An eye bolt is a bolt it has a shank that passes through a member and takes a nut, with the eye on the bolt itself. If you have a threaded rod projecting and need an eye on it → eye nut. If you need a bolt-with-an-eye to fix through a structure → eye bolt. Tell us the connection and we confirm which; they are not interchangeable.

Straight Answers to Common Buyer Concerns

“How do I make sure the eye nut matches my anchor rod?” Two things, both confirmable before you order: the thread (send the rod’s thread designation or a sample the eye nut must be cut to match) and the rating (send the guy load; the eye nut’s rating must exceed it with your factor). The table maps each EN type to its rods and bolts; our engineers confirm your specific rod against it. A mismatched thread is the one failure that stops an anchor cold, and it’s entirely avoidable at RFQ.

“These are rated in lbs and threaded in inches will they suit our system?” The EN range is built to a US/ANSI-style anchoring system (PISA rods, inch sizes, lbs ratings), which is standard across many of our export markets. If your network uses metric rods and kN ratings, tell us we confirm the thread and provide kN equivalents, or match to your metric anchor rod range. The key is matching the eye nut to the rod you actually use; send the rod detail and we handle the units.

“Can you supply the complete guy anchor?” Yes the eye nut is one link in it. Send the anchor type and guy load and we quote the anchor rod, eye nut, guy grip or guy clamp, and guy wire as a matched set, kitted per anchor, so the stay is complete from ground to pole.
